Fire and Ice
October 5, 2010
Springs of water turn to ice
but fire comes along and never plays nice
ruining what the water did build
flattening the frozen spring pose
and shrinking back the ice that once arose
The starving fire just takes without yield
Until the ice has taken all that it will take
and that is when the fire sees its mistake
the mess that it made… will now take what it wants
and the fire must die for all of its trouble
for the water is rushing to burst its bubble
silly was the fires senseless taunts
greed was its mistake
for now the water has turned on it as quick as a snake!

lovely rhymes,
greed was its mistake,
for now the water has turned on it as quick as a snake….
apt ending…
love the word flow and sentiments in it…
Thank you for sharing with potluck…
Happy Tuesday!
This is a terrific description of the eternal battle between these two. I’m sure that Earth is grateful that in the end, Water can conquer Fire, even though Wind no doubt helped feed its appetites. Nice poem.
The fire’s greed was its undoing. Water won out because it had the power of ice on its side. 🙂 Very nice, 2zpoint!
When I wrote this I was thinking about fire melting ice and that greedy behavior had the repercussion of the water putting the fire out. In other words karma…often I think about thing like this to keep me from getting mad at the greedy it lets me know that they will get theirs through bad karma! Thank you for your read and comment!
I’m a rookie too, I’m not so sure my Gecko haiku was appropriate–oh well, live and learn!
I always think of karma too in mine or others actions. And people will “reap what they sow” whether they believe in it or not!
What a wonderful description…perfect for the theme at Potluck…thanks so much for linking my friend xx
Thank you Buttercup! I actually wrote it for the potluck when I mistakenly put my other one on there not realizing there was a theme. LOL! just a rookie I guess.
Very nicely written. I love how the elements meet. Seemingly as though the fire could win, until the ice melts and bursts with water to put out the flames. Really an interesting write, well done. Emotional! Much enjoyed this. ~April 🙂
Thank you for your kind compliment April It is awesome to get such a compliment from such a writer.
