If everyone had just a few smiles more
would anyone feel like going to war?
Would the bitter be as hard to take…
or a friend quite so hard to make?
Could the sad be less so…
Could anguish be let go…
with a few smiles more?
Love might be sweeter.
A mess might seem a little neater…
and who would take games serious enough to be a cheater?
…with a few smiles more.
Life comes to us the way we take it.
But I believe that it would be half as poor…
with a few smiles more.
